Important Information about Voodoo2® for Macintosh
The Voodoo2 driver contained in this installer are delivered "as-is" and are not offered with any support.
System Requirements
The following is required to install and use the Voodoo2 drivers for Macintosh:
• A PowerPC™ based computer with a minimum of 32 megabytes of memory (RAM)
• Any PCI based 3dfx Voodoo2® based 3D graphics accelerator (iMac cards are not currently supported)
• Mac OS System 8.1 or later
Installing the Voodoo2 drivers
To install the Voodoo2 drivers, drag the files in the "Into Extensions Folder" folder into the Extensions folder in your System Folder. You may also drag the three files onto your System Folder icon and MacOS will copy the files to the Extensions folder for you automatically.
New features in Beta 3 Release
• Preliminary fullscreen-only OpenGL support is now included. Note: The included OpenGL driver will not work with any third party Glide implementations, and requires the 3dfx GlideLib 3.x file included in the Beta3 driver release. Previous versions will not work.
Bugs fixed in Beta 2 Release
• Bugs with downloading very small mipmap levels in Glide2.x and Glide3.x have been fixed. This fixes the "black surfaces" problem in games such as Quake3 and Unreal.
Troubleshooting
Problems with MacOS 9
There appears to be some stability issues with the Voodoo2 drivers and MacOS 9. We are trying to isolate the problem, but have thus far been unable to reproduce it at 3dfx. We will continue to investigate this issue.
Problems with OpenGL games
Some OpenGL games depend on using windowed OpenGL mode even though they appear to be fullscreen titles. Unfortunately these can not be made to work on Voodoo2, which is a fullscreen only device. Quake2 and Quake3 are known to work, however.
Nanosaur and Bugdom appear to be missing some graphics
These games, and others use features of RAVE that are not implemented by the Voodoo2 drivers and therefore may not perform as intended.
Removing Voodoo2
If you wish to remove the Voodoo2 drivers, follow these steps:
1. Open the "Extensions" folder within your System Folder
